Brown Boobies (The Flying Kind)

These graceful birds decided to hitch a ride on my ship in the eastern Pacific Ocean approaching Balboa in Panama. Despite the silly name and facial expressions the birds are truly magnificent fishing birds. As perchers they are not so welcome. Just ask my Chief Mate whose decks were 'painted' with the birds poop! One bird was particularly fearless and sat posing for me while I approached to within about 2 mtrs
